September 1799.

he stinted himself of his own accord not by any Persons
advice but he took part of the Bottle of Wine and gave
Mr.. Fox a good part of it, he never used the Skipping
Rope in the Sick Ward, he was not at Portsmouth last
Friday, he at present gets his livelihood by raising
Men for Colonel Pothill of the Surrey Rangers he
has heard his Brother say that Mr.. Adam was
instrumental in getting him Pardon but that he
did not know how his Pardon was got he has known
M.. Butcher about 15. or 16. Years ago he kept the sun
at Charging Cross 8. or. 9 Years ago, from there he went
to and kept the admiralty Coffee house in Buckingham
Court lived there for 2. Years, he is near 40. Years of
Age, Mr.. Butcher took a House in St.. Georges fields
lived in a private way Mr.. Butcher told him that
he must keep himself wrapped up and put on the
appearance of illness Mr.. Aris first told him to
sham ill, he does not know through what channel
he got his Pardon he has paid Mr.. Butcher for the
Wine he did not pay him for some time he paid Mr..
Butcher and Mr.. Butcher is satisfied that it was
paid he paid him in Gold it was about 32 or 33
shillings - Witness never shew'd a Chamber Pot
nearly full of Blood to Dr.. Webb, nor took any
Medicine.
