the County as well as the Goaler or Keeper of His Majestys G<obscured></obscured>

of Newgate have claimed of the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMGO55607_occ539">Treasurer</rs>

for the County the<lb></lb>
payment of several large Sums of Money arising by Fees sa<obscured></obscured>

due to them for such persons as are by their respective Courts sen<obscured></obscured>

hard Labour on the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55607_geo1078">River Thames</rs>

amounting in the whole to a Guinea for each Convict being a<lb></lb>
sentenced being a like Satisfaction with what they used to<lb></lb>
receive from the Contractor for Transporting Convicts for the<lb></lb>
Order of Transportation of any Offender</p>
<p n="1196">Theretofore these fees were paid by the Contin<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
for the Transportation of Convicts but now by a Clause in the <obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
abovementioned the Payment is thrown upon the County Trea<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
and must necessarily exhaust the County Revenues very<lb></lb>
considerably</p>
<p n="1197">In Consequence of this Act of Parliament the<lb></lb>
<rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55607_geo1079">County of Middlesex</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo1079" type="placeName" value="County of Middlesex"></interp>
<interp inst="LMSMGO55607_geo1079" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
is very heavily burthened in the maintena<obscured></obscured>

and Custody of great numbers of Convicts committed to the <obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
of Correction for Labour which Prisons have been at a very la<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
Expence altered for and accommodated to their reception and<lb></lb>
employment and which from the Daily increase of Convic<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
must be still further Augmented there being no less than <obscured></obscured>
