<p n="190">might (as the Act then stood) undertake to discharge the Debt and to pave<lb></lb>
the whole in the best manner; in consideration where of and of giving<lb></lb>
Security for the due and well performance of such contract, the whole<lb></lb>
Produce of the Toll to be assigned except £20 per Annum reserved for a<lb></lb>
Collector to be appointed by the Commission, by whose order the said Paviour<lb></lb>
should be paid Quarterly and in order to its being properly paved a Standing<lb></lb>
Committee was to be appointed of the neighbouring Justices to oversee.<lb></lb>
the same to give Notice of Defects and to order the same to be amended in<lb></lb>
cases of Neglect. And it was submitted whether, as the surplus of the<lb></lb>
said Toll or Duty is by the Act vested in the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMGO55606_occ114">Justices of the Peace</rs>

for this<lb></lb>
County they might dispose of the whole duty for a Term of Years without<lb></lb>
which it would be worth no persons while to lay out so much Money as<lb></lb>
would be necessary to repair the same; but if the said Act was not thought<lb></lb>
Sufficient it was proposed that application should be made to Parliaments<lb></lb>
for that Purpose. Whereby the Allowance of £10 & £20 to the agent and<lb></lb>
Collector were disallowed and determined; that the Collector in lien of<lb></lb>
his allowance should in future should have 4s in the Pound arrising by<lb></lb>
the said Toll for receiving and rendring an Account upon Oath<lb></lb>
at every Easter Session, that Toll Posts should be set down with the<lb></lb>
Inscriptions as above, And it was referred to the same Committee.<lb></lb>
to treat with a Paviour for repairing, Etc. for any Number of Years<lb></lb>
& to receive proposals for the same and to report at the next Session, and<lb></lb>
all other Matters not decided on referred back to the Committee</p>
<p n="191">An Order of the 26th February 1729 made upon the Second reports<lb></lb>
of the Committee in which Report it is said That Toll Posts had been<lb></lb>
set down as directed by the last order, that publick Notice had been given<lb></lb>
for receiving proposals for paving and keeping in Repair <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55606_geo190">the Haymarket</rs>
