The Information of John Whitford< no role > , Errand Boy to
Henry House of Cloth Fair in the City of London , Haberdasher
Who, being upon Oath, saith that on Monday Evening last about nine o'Clock
John Ellerton< no role > and William Wood< no role > , the Prisoners now under Examination
[..] ock'd at his Master's Door, and when the opened it, one of them, he
does not know which, asked if his Master was at Home, to which
he answered no, he was not, he was then asked of his Mistress was
at House to which he also answered no both the Prisoners upon that
asked if he could serve them some Ribbon; to which he said he
could the Prisoners then came into the shop and the Prisoner
Ellerton [..] asked for some blue Ribbon, which this Informant shewed
him the other Prisoner Wood then said Pink would be better
and while he was shewing the Prisoner Ellerton some Pink Ribbon
he observed the Prisoner Words Hand in the Drawer, and suspecting
he intended to secrete some Ribbon, told him to take his Hand
away this Informant then observed him in taking away his Hand
secrete in the Palm a half Piece of blue Ribbon this Informant
then told him he had a Piece of Ribbon, and went to the Door
with Intent to call for Assistance the Prisoners upon that
endeavoured to get out, but being prevented, and the Constable
coming, they offered themselves to be searched, which was done
in this Informant's Presence, but the Ribbon was not found

And this Informant further saith that he
verily believes both the Prisoners came into the Shop, with a
joint Intent to steal.
