The Information of Thomas Lewis< no role > of
Ludgate Street , London, Hardwareman, Who being on
Oath saith, that on Friday last about one o' Clock
the Prisoner now under Examination, William McNamara< no role >
came into his Shop, and asked to see some Buckles
Informant having been busy with some Customers,
his Counter was partly covered with Goods, and
amongst other things, there were several Pairs of
Stone Buckles< no role > the Prisoner complained, that
the Buckles looked rather dull, and thereupon
Informant turned round to get a Brush to clean
them, and as he was turning round, he observed the
Prisoner put his left hand in his left hand
Waistcoat Pocket Informant being then
satisfied the Prisoner had taken Something off
the Counter, and put it in his Pocket, very
narrowly watched him the Prisoner bargained
For some buckles, and being pressed so to do,
he left a Shilling earnest, the Prisoner then
went out of the Shop, and walked towards Saint
Pauls Church Yard Informant Followed the
Prisoner , and observed him to take something out
of his left hand Waistcoat Buckes the Prisoner turned up Ivey
Lane, and there took something, out of his left
hand Waistcoat Pocket and looked at something
he went Forward to Newgate, and Informant
Followed him Informant told the Maid or to
the Centinels and Turnkey, who advised his being
stopt When the Prisoner came back into the
LodgePassage, Informant said, he wanted to
speak with him Prisoner and Informant
withdrew into the Lodge, and the Former delivered
the Pair of stone Knew buckles now produced,
to Informant, who said, he knew he (the Prisoner)
had been doing some thing the Prisoner answered
it was too true Says the buckles now produced
are his Property, and of the Value of twenty
Shillings
