of February 1783
Who being upon Oath says that between 6 and 7 o'Clock
last evening this Informant, John Stewart< no role >
and William
Anderson were in the writing Chamber of Mr. Johnston
No. 4 Inner Temple
Lane together. That said Mr.
Johnston having just before found fault with this
Informant at the Session house on Clerkenwell Green
for not not copying a Declaration which Mr Johnston
said Anderson had informed him he had given to
this Informant to do, he this Informant asked
said Anderson if it was true Vizt. "Whether he
had told Mr Johnston that he (Anderson) had
given the Declaration to this Informant to copy"
to which said Anderson made no reply That
this Informant then told said Anderson that
if ever he used such freedomsagainwith
this Informant again that he this Informant
would lick said Anderson or said Anderson
should lick this Informant That sd. Anderson
then said (with a Sneer) Well done Mr Martin
when this Informant replied God damn you
you Puppy who do you think you are
Wiffling with and instantly struck said
Anderson in his face with the back of this
Informant's left hand as he believes whereupon
said Anderson immediately snatched up a Pen
Knife
which was lying opened on the Desk
before him and stabbed this Informant
therewith in his left Breast That this
Informant finding himself Wounded ran into
an adjacent Parlour pulling the Door after
him
