The joint and several Information of Charles
Smith of Great Russel Street in the County of Middlesex
Lieutenant of the Goliah Ship of War, William Cap< no role > of
Petty Pot Lane, London, Clerk of the said Ship
Benjamin Hutcher< no role > of Mark Lane , London, Clerk and
Thomas Dykes< no role > of Bond Court, Walbrook, London< no role >
Clerk Who being on Oath severally say And First
the said Charles Smith< no role > for himself saith, that the
Prisoner at the Bar, now under Examination, John Brown< no role > was
a Seaman on beard the Ship Goliah, when
the Squadron under the Command of Admiral
Barrington , in an Engagement off [..] Brent in the
Month ofOctoberApril last captured several French
Ships in the Bay of BiseaySays, that the
Prisoner was entered and went by the Name
of John Brown< no role > at this timeAnd the said
William Clap< no role > for himself saith, that in the Cruise
in the said Bay, there was one William Richard< no role >
a Seaman on board the said Ship Goliah, who was
killed in an Engagement off Gibraltar in October
last, and his legal Representative stand entitled
to as Share or Shares of Prize Money, of the
Prizes captured in April last And the said
Benjamin Hitchins< no role > and Thomas Dykes< no role > For
themselves severally say, that the Prisoner John
Brown applied to them in the Character of the
said William Richards< no role > , and personated him with
Intent to Defraud George Rogers< no role > , John Lloyd< no role >
and Francis Stevens< no role > of the Share or Shares of the Prize
Money due to the lawful Reprensentatives of
the said William Richards< no role > .
