To the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor< no role > of the City
of London and the Rest of Justices assigned to keep the
Peace within the said City

The humble Petition of the Church wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
Saint Mary Magdalen< no role > Old Fish Street in the said City

Humbly Sheweth

That by an order bearing date the twenty eighth Day of February last under the
Hands and Seals of Sir Watkin Lewes< no role > Knight Lord Mayor< no role > and Evan Pugh< no role > Esquire one of the
Aldermen of the said City directed to the Church wardens and overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint Dunston
in the East in the City of London and to your Petitioners stating therein That complaint had
been made unto the said Lord Mayor< no role > and Alderman (who were two of his Majestys Justices of
the Peace for the said City and one of them of the Quorum) by the said Church wardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East That George Crawford< no role > Mary
his wife and their four Children namely Elizabeth< no role > This name instance is in set 3194. aged twelve years Mary Catherine
Aged eight Years George aged five Years and Richard< no role > aged two Years had then lately come to reside in their said
Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East and not having obtained any legal Settlement there were
likely to become chargeable thereto unless timely prevented which complaint the said Justices
upon due proofs made thereof upon Oath did Adjudge to be true and did also adjudge the last legal,
Settlement of the said George Crawford< no role > Mary< no role > his Wife and their four Children to be in the said
Parish Saint Mary Magdalen< no role > old Fish Street in the said City and that hithertotheythe said George
his wife and Family ought to be sent They the said Justices did therefore order the said Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East forth with to remove and
convey the said George Crawford< no role > Mary< no role > his wife and their four Children from and out of the
said Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East unto the said Parish of Saint Mary Magdalen< no role >
aforesaid and deliver them unto your Petitioners together with the said order and did thereby require
your Petitioners to receive and provide for them according to Law

That your Petitioners in Compliance with the said orders did receive the said George Crawford< no role > his wife and
Children and have provided for them ever since the Receipt of the said Order as the Law in such Cases directs

That the said order was obtained by misrepresentation to the said Justices Because as your Petitioners are
advised the said George Crawford< no role > his wife and Children had obtained a legal Settlement in the said Parish of
Saint Dunstan in the East he the said George Crawford< no role > having rented and occupied a Dwelling House
of more than ten Pounds Mr. Ann [..] situate in Coppins Court Saint Dunstan's Hill in the said
Parish belonging to Mr. Thomas Harding< no role >

Your Petitioners therefore humbly pray your Lordship and the rest of the sd. Justices
that the said order may be quashed and that the said Church Wardens and
Overseers of the said Parish of Saint Dunstan in the East may be
ordered to pay your Petitioners the Expences of maintaining and
providing for the said George Crawford< no role > his wife and Family [..]
since the said twenty eighth Day of February last together with
the Costs of this Appeal

And your Petitioners shall ever pray Etc.
