Hands were all but Cinders, upon Which this Informant told the
said Watkins that he would not go for that he had seen said Martin
in the Riot in Moorfield And this Informant further Saith that
after said Watkins went away and early in that day several Persons
[..] told this Informant that his House was to he pulled down [..]
that Evening, for his having spoke to a man of his that was in the
Mob on Monday; that this Informant being much alarmed at these
Reports about two O'Clock of said Wednesday (which was the Seventh
Instant) he went to said Martin to a House in a Court or Alley in
East Smithfield which he believe is called black House Court or alley
found him on a bed in the Garrett in a most dreadful Situation, [..]
that this Informant ask'd said Martins how he came so, that Martin
told this informant that but and some others went to palace Yard &
from thence to Astley's Riding School, and when that was over they
went and had some supper, and when they had had their supper
& were coming Cross St George Fields they saw a great Fire
which they made their Way to and that was the Goal of Newgate
that he could not remember how he get into Newgate but found
himself in a room all on fire, and was obliged to fly this' it to
save his Life for it was a Mercy that he was not burn't to
ashes, [..] this Informant then observed to said Martin that he had
brought the Whole upon himself Martin then desired that he
this Informant would not reflect upon him for that it would
be a Waring to him the longest day he had to live; then this
Informant ask'd said Martin what he sent for him for, he told him
it was to consult with him what he had best do about getting into
an Hospital, [..] soon after which a Ticket signed by a Governor of
the London Hospital being brought in this Informant gave him a
Shilling and went away
