and Company of the Bank of England the Prosecutors in this Cause
William Sawbridge< no role > of Milk Street Lodon Wholesale Mercer
and Gabriel Martin< no role > of Threadneedle Street London Gentleman
Severally make Oath And first the said John Blackmore< no role > upon his
Oath Saith that on or about the twenty fourth Day of May last
William Sawbridge< no role > and Company who kept Cash with the Bank
lodged and Deposited or Caused to be lodged and Deposited at the Bank a Bill of Exchange Markt
Bank Post Bill No. E. 4192 Dated 20th. April 1745 for twenty
Pounds Payable to Robert Farmer< no role > or Order at Sevendays Sight
and accepted the said twenty fourth Day of May last And this Deponent
John Blackmore< no role > further Saith that on the said Bills being so lodged
and Deposited as aforesaid this Deponent wrote to the same Short
into the Bank Book of Sawbridge and Company as a Bill which
is the usuall way of giving Credit for Bills not due And this Deponent
John Blackmore< no role > furthr Saith that this Deponent Seen after
[..] the said Bills being lodged and Deposited as aforesaid put the
same into a Nest of Drawers Provided by the Bank for such
Purposes in Order to be kept there till due and then to be Cancelled
and Credited to Saw bridge and Comapny as Cash And this Deponent
Blackmore further saith that the Defeadant Robert Scruton< no role >
was an Officer and Servant of the Bank in their Office Called the
Bill Office and as such Access to the Nest of Drawers wherein
the said Bill was placed and also had a Key that locked up the same
And this Deponent William Greenough< no role > upon his Oath Saith
that on or about the thirtyeth day of May last the said Defendant
Robert Scruton< no role > brought the said Bill to this Deponent for a Ticket
for the Money and this Deponent not then knowing that the
same had been lodged and Deposited with the Bank and being
