The Examination of Will Kelly< no role > (alias Johnson < no role > )
taken at the Poultry Compter the 3d of June 1745
Saith that he come over from Dublin to Chester & thence to
London upwards of 2 Months agoe in Company with
Thos. St. Leger< no role > alias Montgemerge< no role > this Examts. went to lodge
at a Shoemaker in Grays Inn Lane untill St. Leger went
wth him to Patrick Cave< no role > alias Cavemaker < no role > an Alley opposite
to St. Andrews Church , Holborn to drink a Dram Caves wife
Sellingdrams & Punch when [..] they Examt. & Layer
agreed to Lodge together there but about a Week after they
had lodged there & having no Money, they took a Walk
out wth Cave their Landlord, & St. Leger Cagan to make his
Compliant to Cave that if he cou'd be provided he would
goe on the high way but Cave parsuaded St. Legee & this
Examt. not to goe on the high way but to Robin Town
& he would provide them wth Pistolls & other Account [..]
which this Examt. St. Leger consented [..]
to go out wth them, accordingly Cave furnish'd them with
a large Clack Pistol & Powder & Shot wth he gave to this Examt.
& a Hanger wch he gave to St. Leger; Some days afterwards
they all there went out together, & Saw a Coach near
Picadilly driving, & this Examt. bid the Coachman
Stop, who not doing this Examt. find a Pistol in the Air to
frighten him, but he drove away as fast as he could so that
they all return'd home with out any purchase that night,
Cave proveded them Same day after as a Pocket Pistol
& this Examt went out wth Sd. Legar the Latter End of April
last into Lincolns Inn Feilds where they met a Mart [..]
abt. 11 a Clock at night, & this Examt. presented a Pistol to
his Breast & bid him deliver whole St. Leger Stood is his
Hanger down, & the man readily delivered his Money
to this Examt. which was Eighteen Shillings, & So let him
goe about his Business.
