This Information of Richard Pearson< no role > of London Mariner
taken before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
For the City of London and Liberties thereof the, Twentieth
Day of January 1738

This Informant on his Oath Saith that on Friday Morning between two and
three oClock the fifth Day of this Instant January this Informat was on
board the Sarah Hey then lying at Botolph Wharf where the Cabbin Boys Thomas
Cock was then in the Cabbin when George Strait< no role > of and John Hughes< no role > came on board
the said Hey And said to this Informant You have a Cark of Cochineal on
board wil You be Concerned to much this Informat Answered it is a Thing
I did never see and dont under stand to which the said Strait if Replayed You are
afraid and immediately thereupon the said Strait called to the said John Hughes< no role >
who was Mooring of the Craft Who [..] came on board the said Hey And then went
into the Hold along with said Strait And the said Stract Hughes there broke open
a Cask of Cochineal in the Presence of the said Stact And this Informat And
then Opened a Bag where in was Cochineal And out of it took three Handkerchiefs
full and then Knocked the Cask up and Carryed the Cochineal Contained in the said
Three Hankercheifs away with them the said Hughes and Stract & And this
Informant saith that the said Cabbin Boy Thomas Cock< no role > did at the time that
the said Cask was breaking open Say to them the said Hughes and Stract I
will give a look out while You do it and this Informant saith that this
Informnt has been since, Informed by the sid Thomas Cock< no role > that he had a
Guinea Given him by them) Meaning the said Hughes and Stract who otherwise
told this Informant that they had Chrated him, of his Share And this Informant
further Saith that on or about the Ninth Day of this Instant January this
Informant being in Company with the said Starct He the said Starct then
Offered to give this Informant Two Moidores upon Condition (as their [..]
belived) that this Informants should not discover the facts Aforesaid But
this Informant then refused to Accept of he same altho this Informant
about two Days afterwards receiv'd the same from the said Stract's Wife
