The Examination and Confession of
Richard Wood< no role > taken before me this 10th
day of July Anno Dom 1724

Who saith and Confesseth that he hath been
Acquainted with one Jeremiah Thompson< no role >
a Scale maker who lives in Little Brittain and
for about Three years and three quarter and that
about Three years agoe the said Jeremiah Thompson
by his Earnest Perswasions and advising this
[..] Examinant. (and at severall times since)
hath received of this Examint. Four sets of Penny
Weights, Two hard Mettle Cocks, Severall flatt
Weights, some Old Brass, which by [..] the
Perswassions of the said Jeremiah Thompson
this Examt. stole from John Wade< no role > , a Founder
who lived in St. Annes Lane to whom this Examt.
was then an Apprentice, and this Examt. further
saith and Confesseth that about half a year agoe
this Examt. by the further perswassion of the said
Thompson & both at severall times Since stole
from this Examts. Master Richard Gilbert< no role > a Founder
in Maiden Lane to whom he was about Three
quarters of a year agoe turned over from the
abovenamed John Wade, First, severall brass Cooks
and then, some Old Brass at severall times, a half
Pound pite of Troy Weights, a Pound Standard weight
and severall other Weights of brass, and as he
Informed this Examt. [..] Used [..] to sell the said
Goods which he received of this Examt. and hath at
severall times. given this Depont. money as a
Satisfaction for helping him to the said Goods
and frequently advised this Examt. not to let either
of this said Masters know of his giving him any of
the said Goods as abovementioned
