discourse of age Mr Stewart Saying that he sad been very hardy used<lb></lb>
by the said Mr Steward and speaking otherwise very opprobriously of<lb></lb>
the said Mr. Steward and thy Deponent saith That he this Deponent<lb></lb>
answering to such discourse of the said <rs type="persName" id="LMSLPS15016_n141-5">Charles Bell</rs>

without any manner of provesacon given him by this Deponent<lb></lb>
said that this Deponent was a Rancall to vindicate the said<lb></lb>
Stewart & thereupon laid his hand on his sword as the woud draw<lb></lb>
it on this Deponents; which designe of the said Bell's this Depont<lb></lb>
perceiving and having neither sword nor cane nor any weapon<lb></lb>
of defence this Deponent did use from his seat to endeavour to get<lb></lb>
within the said Charles Bells reach to prevent the Mischeife he<lb></lb>
seemd, to intend against<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
this Deponent But this Deponent<lb></lb>
saith That before he could close in With the said Bell so as to<lb></lb>

ver the drawing of his sword he had drawne it & when he<lb></lb>
found thy Deponent was come within him towards laying hold<lb></lb>
of the said Bells arme the said Bell shortned his sword establd.<lb></lb>
this Deponent on the belly near the navel with which wound<lb></lb>
this Deponent languishd for ye space of a moneth<lb></lb>
and this Deponent further said That he did not in the least<lb></lb>
think<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
of any such accident or that any quarrell<lb></lb>
or dispute cou'd arise between them when he went of Change<lb></lb>
nor was any other occasion given for what did happen then<lb></lb>
as abovesaid and this Deponent further saith That the<lb></lb>
expence which this Deponent has been at on account of<lb></lb>
his said wound in Surgeons Physiuars & otherwise</p>
