Henry Cairnes< no role > of London Merchant Maketh oath That he this
Deponent being upon the royal Exchange on Friday the eighteenth
day of May last One Mr Charles Bell< no role > and one Capt Andrew Dauglass< no role >
or one of them askd. this Deponent to come downe to them as soon
as Exchange time should be over to the Vine Vaverne in Loth her
near the lower end of Bartholmew Lane to drink a glasse with them
or to that effect which this Deponent promised he wou'd do And this
Deponent further saith That he did accordingly to the said Charles
Bell
< no role > and Capt Douglasse a here after this Deponent had been but a
very little [..] time the said Charles Bell< no role > did very abruptly begin a
discourse of age Mr Stewart Saying that he sad been very hardy used
by the said Mr Steward and speaking otherwise very opprobriously of
the said Mr. Steward and thy Deponent saith That he this Deponent
answering to such discourse of the said Charles Bell< no role > That he this
deponent knew nothing of that matter but that Mr. Stewart was
as very honest Man to that purpose The said Charles Bell< no role >
without any manner of provesacon given him by this Deponent
said that this Deponent was a Rancall to vindicate the said
Stewart & thereupon laid his hand on his sword as the woud draw
it on this Deponents; which designe of the said Bell's this Depont
perceiving and having neither sword nor cane nor any weapon
of defence this Deponent did use from his seat to endeavour to get
within the said Charles Bells reach to prevent the Mischeife he
seemd, to intend against [..] this Deponent But this Deponent
saith That before he could close in With the said Bell so as to
[..] ver the drawing of his sword he had drawne it & when he
found thy Deponent was come within him towards laying hold
of the said Bells arme the said Bell shortned his sword establd.
this Deponent on the belly near the navel with which wound
this Deponent languishd for ye space of a moneth
and this Deponent further said That he did not in the least
think [..] of any such accident or that any quarrell
or dispute cou'd arise between them when he went of Change
nor was any other occasion given for what did happen then
as abovesaid and this Deponent further saith That the
expence which this Deponent has been at on account of
his said wound in Surgeons Physiuars & otherwise
