WHEREAS Her Majesty hath been graciously pleased to express Her early
Care of her People, in declaring her pious Concern for the Honour of God,
the Advancement of Religion, and a general Reformation of Manners in
this Her Kingdom, by a gracious Proclamation for the Encouragement of
Piety and Vertue, and for Preventing and Punishing of Vice, Profanenets and Immorality,
and thereby commanding that all the Laws against the Neglect of the Worship and Service
of God on the Lord's Day, Blasphemy, profane Swearing and Curfing, Profanation of the
Lord's Day, execessive Drinking, Lewdness, Bawdy-houses, public Garning-houses and pla-
ces, and other disorderly Houses, and all Dissolute, Immoral and Disorderly Practices, be
put in Execution, as a means of procuring the Blessing of Almighty God to make her Reign
Happy and Prosperous to Her Self and Her People: This Her pious Care we receive with
humble Thankfulness and great Joy; And it is now ordered by Her Majesty's Justices of the
Peace for the City of London in this General Quarter-Sessions assembled, That all Consta-
bles, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor, within this City of London and the Liberties
thereof, and all other Officers, do use their utmost Care, and be very diligent in making and
causing to be made frequent Searches after such Persons is shall offend in any of the Cases
before-mentioned, and to bring, or cause to be brought, all such Persons whom they shall
find so offending, before some or one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for this City
and the Liberties thereof, that they may be dealt with and punished according to Law.
And it is further ordered, That this Order be forthwith printed and published, and be sent
to the several Justices of the Peace, Constables and Churchwardens within this City and Li-
berties thereof, for the better and more strict Observation of Her Majesty's Proclamation
before-mentioned.
