London ye. first Septemr. 1697
Upon Complaint of Seaverall eminent Citizens, and other
Inhabitants of this City that the continuing of Bartholomew
Faire longer then three days is contrary to the Charter of
this City; And the permitting the Seaverall obscene Plays,
and interlades there is a perverting the first designe of the
said Faire, an incouragment to all manner of Lewdinesse &
debauchery to the great corruption of youth, to the dishonour
of Allmighty God, & the Scandall of this City
Doe Prsent the Same as a great Nuzance, &
humbly pray that a speedy and effectuall care
may bee taken to redresse the same.
