The Informacon of John Williams< no role > of the Parish of St.
John Wappin Marriner taken this 4th. day of June 1696

This Informant saith that about the latter end of Aprill last he
this Informt: same to the Shopp of David Vennable< no role > Goldsmith
in Cheapside and sold him a Counterfeit halfe Crowne for which
he received from the said David Vennable Eight pence and another
pence of Mony as this informt: thinketh called by the name of a Peice of
Eight being mixt Mottle for which he received Tenn pence that
is for the two peeces together One Shilling and Six pence and amongst
other discourse he the said Vennable told this Informant that he observed
he was a poore man and he had a Minde to doe this Informant a kindeness
and helpe him to the earning a Crowne to buy him a paire of Shooes
and asked him where he lived he this Informt. told him that he often
dranke att the Crowne and Sugar loafe in Bucklersbury

This Informt: further sayeth that the said David Venuable< no role > came to the
Crowne and Sugar leafe aforesaid on the last day of Aprill last and asked
for this informant where he this Informant was, he the said David
Venuable after Drinking a pott of Drink with this Informt: took him out
of the house and gave him a gally pott and two pence and bid this
Informt: to buy one penny worth of Aqua Fortis, and one pennyworth
of Argill and bring itt to him att the Flying horse and Bell Ale house
in Woodstreat which this Informt: accordingly did and imediately mett
the said David Vennable there and from thence he took this Informant
to the Bull Head Taverne in Cheapside att which place he the said David
Vennable mixed the Aqua Fortis the Argill and some burnt silver together
and then urged this informant that he would bee secret which this Informant
promised to bee in any thing (Treason Murder or Felony excepted) Then he
the said David Venuable pulled out a paper of brass mony and desired this
Informt: to wash itt over with the said Compound of Aqua Fortis Argill
and burnt Silver and told him itt was no harme and that he would
beare this Informt: harmeless which this Informt: refused being afraid
so to doe, then he the said Venuable bid him Rubb the dirt [..] of
two or three peices which he did which peeces he the said David Venuable
washed over with the said Compound of Aqua Fortis: Argill and Burnt Silver and
imediately the Constable came into the Roome and seized the Informt: and the said David
Vennable
< no role > together with the said Brass mony att which time the said David Vennable Downe on his
knees and offered the Constable tenn guineas to lett him goe att large
