at, That the sd. Jones then said he knew of a Gardiner that had seven<lb></lb>
Shirts and Nine Guineas this Inst. asked where and the sd Jones<lb></lb>
ansr. it was some distance off but did not chuse to tell where<lb></lb>
they then returned to the sd Public House and this Inst. knowing<lb></lb>

room in the sd Public House he went and told him all that<lb></lb>
had passed, that this Inst, desired the sd constable to follow him<lb></lb>
this Inst. and the sd Jones and Watch where they went, that they<lb></lb>

at the sign of the Chaise and Horse at <rs type="placeName" id="LMOBPS45034_geo1142">Hammersmith</rs>

Jones gave this Inst. six pence to bay some Liner to give to the<lb></lb>
Yard Dog (named Pompey) to keep him quick, That this Inst, <gap reason="illegible"></gap>

thought it was Improper and told the sd Jones he could not get any<lb></lb>
that they then went on the Road through <rs type="placeName" id="LMOBPS45034_geo1143">Hammersmith<lb></lb>
Turnpike</rs>

and turned off at the Hand and Flower near Read<lb></lb>
Turnpike went through the Berckfield, to when the sd Jones<lb></lb>
get over a Pailling about Elven o'Clock in the Evening this<lb></lb>
Instr. then got under the sd Pailing when the sd Jones turned<lb></lb>
round and said to this Inst. "Damn your Eyes come along<lb></lb>
and if you dont it and Hannek all cut your throat that<lb></lb>
the sd Jones turned round the comer of a High wall and this inst<lb></lb>
saw no more of him through he waited about the said Wall with<lb></lb>
the Constable and three other Men untill two o'Clock in the<lb></lb>
Morning, and this Inst further saith that the sd Jones had with him<lb></lb>
a stick at the time he apply'd to him at the sd Redlion and at <lb></lb>
the Time he last sight of him at the Corner of the well and which is<lb></lb>
the same stick now produced by <rs type="persName" id="LMOBPS45034_n1846-7">Thomas Johnston</rs>
