AN INQUISITION Indented, Taken for our Sovereign Lord the King, at The Parish
of Saint Leonard Shoreditch in the County of
Middlesex , the Eighth Day of April in the Twenty second Year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of God, of Great-Britain, France, and
Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before Thomas Phillips< no role >
one of the Coroners of our Lord the King for the said County, on View of the Body of
Ralph Prestage< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
William Griffin< no role > , Thomas Nell< no role > , Samuel Harper< no role > , William Nango< no role > , Richard Dolly< no role >
Thomas Mathews< no role > , John Crathorn< no role > , Benjamin Cross< no role > , John Gray< no role > , Thomas Sims< no role >
William Bowman< no role > , John Davis< no role > , Francis Stockman< no role > , Edward Allen< no role > , Thomas Weston< no role >
and Thomas York< no role >
good and lawful Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly
sworn and charged to inquire, for our said Lord the King, when, how, and by what Means, the
said Ralph Prestage< no role > came to his
Death, Do, upon their Oath, say, That the said [..] Ralph Prestage< no role > on the Sixth Day
of April in the Year aforesaid being an Infant of the Age of Six Years or thereabouts
accidentally casually any by misfortune fell into a Pit of Water Situate in a certain Field
called Scotts Field near The Kings Head Alehouse at Haggerstone in the
Parish and County aforesaid And was in the Waters thereof then and there suffocated
and drowned of which said Suffocation and Drowning he the said [..] Ralph Prestage< no role >
then and there died And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do very
[..] the said [..] Means aforesaid accidentally

IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said Coroner as the said William Griffin< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, on the Behalf of himself and the Rest of his said Fellows, in
their Presence, have, to this Inquisition, set their Hands and Seals, the Day and Year first
above written.
