a Carrier of Parcels for the Hampstead
Stage Upon his Oath Saith That on Wednesday
last he and another Boy whose Name is Jacob Taghill having been a birdnesting
in Paddington Fields
were Returning from thence along the Road towards Grays
Inn Lane And Saw in a Pond on the left hand Side of the said Road Something
Swimming in the Pond which he thought was a Parcel and told his Companions
And went into the Pond and took it out and gave it to Jacob and he put it on the
Path and rolled it on the Path about a Yard or two And then Deponent Unpinosed the
Parcel and Something Came out like Wind and one hand of a Child Came out though
Deponent at first thought it was a Young Rig) Just at this Time a Manon
the Opposite Side the Road who was making Water and saw What Deponent and
his Companion were doing being Called to by them Came over And when he saw it
said Oh it is a Child the when he was on the Other Side the Road he said it was a
lump of Clay Several People Came use And After it had laid by the Side of the Pond
about half an hour the said Man (Whose Name he hath heard is John Graham< no role >
)
took it to a Publick House in Order that the Parish Officers might be told of it
Saith he was told in the House that the Child Appeared to have allow on its
forehead which Graham and another Maid Said had done for it
