Southwark


An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the parish
of Saint John within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the Sixteenth
day of November in the fortieth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third
King of Great Britain and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our
Said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view
of the body of a man whose name to the Jurors is unknown now here lying
dead by the oath of William Farmer< no role > John Willmott< no role > Job Hemming< no role > Way William
Glover Daniel Green< no role > John Moore< no role > John Nicholson< no role > Samuel Lacy< no role > Thomas Hayward< no role >
Samuel Britton< no role > William Lindsey< no role > Thomas King< no role > and James Burgess< no role > good and
lawful men of the Borough of Southwark aforesaid in the County aforesaid who being
now here duly chosen Sworn and charged to inquire for our Lord the King when
how and in what manner the Said Man whose name is unknown came to his
death Say upon their oath that the said man whose name is unknown
then lately before accidentally casually and by misfortune fell into the River
of Thames there Situate and in and with the waters of the said River was then
and there Suffocated and drowned of which said Suffocation and drowning
the said man whose name is unknown did then and there die
In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Willmott< no role > the
foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows
in their presence have to this Inquisition Set their hands and Seals the day
year and place first above written.
