Southwark

Informations of Witnesses taken at Guys Hospital
in the parish of Saint Thomas within
the Bow. of Southwark in the County of
Surrey on 6th. July 1799 on view of the
body of a man unknown there lying dead

John Wild< no role > of Duke Street Southwark Carpenter
maketh oath that last Monday afternoon the deced
was given in charge of this Dept by a Mr. Brown who
sayed the deced had robbed him. Dept took the deced to Union
hall to be examined; when they got there the Magistrates were
gone & whilst the deced any there Dept saw the deced taken
a pistol out of the pot of his breeches a which Dept ran
away into an adjoining room & presently Dept heard the
report of a pistol upon which Dept & showned & found the
deced upon the floor Heiding with a Wound on his head
That assistance was sent for & the deced was taken to Guys
Hospital where he died as Dept has been informed & believes
[..] yesterday morng.
