Depositions of Witnesses taken at London that
is to say, at the parish of Saint Michael Queenhith
in the ward of Queenhith in London aforesaid
this 27th. day of June 1799 on view of the body of
Thomas Emperor< no role > now here lying Dead.

John Hilsdon< no role > Butcher of Apothecary Row Wardsworth< no role > in the County
of Surrey Waterman maketh Oath that a quarter before five this [..]
Dept. being in his wherry nearly opposite Brooks wharf near queen
hith Stairs he observed some persons in a Ballart Lighter a little
distance from Dept. hanling the Cable of the Lighter up that something
hung a cross the Cable and the persons hanling up the Cable sayed that
is appeared like a drowned person that the persons hanling the Cable
Shocked the body off the Cable and Dept having got near with his
Boat put his Arm into the water and caught hold of the deced
whom he discovered to be a Man Dept. made him fast to his
Boat and trued him on Shore to Queenhithe Stairs that
the deced was got on Shore and taken on [..] the
platform of Queenhithe Stairs where Dept. left him a little white
afterThat the deced had all his Cloaths on and appeared to have
been a few days in the Water

James Vandum Porter to his Royal Higness the Prince of Water
at Carlton House maketh Oath that he hath known the deced Thomas
Emperor about forty yearsthat the deced has been under Porter
to Dept. about fifteen years past-That about one oClock on Saturday
lastafternoon last Dept. being in Duty as a Porter at the Gate of Carlton
house the deced came to relieve Dept. while Dept. went to dinner
Dept. returned a little before two and found the deced on Duty
at the GateThat the deced stood in a melancholy posture his Eyes
robling about Dept. asked him what was the matter the decad sayed
he was troubled in his mind that he could not tell what was the matter that he was distracted that somebody
had been talking against him to the prince that Dept. talked a little
to the decad advised him to apply to a Doctor the deced sayed he
wanted no Doctor that he was troubled in his Mind-the deced then
left Dept. and went away in order as Dept. supposed to go to his
appartment and Dept. understood the deced was missing about five
oClock the same afternoon Dept. says that from last Monday [..]
