Deposition of a Witness taken at London
that is to say at the parish of Alhallows the
Less in the Ward of Dowgate in London
aforesaid this 3d. day of April 1798 on view
of the body of Thomas Hughes< no role > now here
lying Dead

Giles Swatting< no role > a servant to Mrs. Jackson of Lothbury
Butcher maketh Oath that about four oClock in the
afternoon of Sunday last Dept. and two other Lads
being in a wherby opposite the Steel yard Alhallows
the Great observed something floating in the Water that
the side was running down-that [..] soon after Dept
observed att at that when it came near the Baat Dept. and the
other Boys got the deced into the Boat-that Dept
and the other two Boys conveyed the Body on there
to Alhallows Stairs that it appeared to be a Boy about
twelve years of Age and after got on there moved
a little-but Dept. believed was nearly [..] Dead
