Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say, at the parish of St. Sepulchre
in the be Ward of Farringdon without in
London aforesaid this 17th. day of January
1798 on view of the body of John Blacklock
now here lying Dead

Bradford Stone< no role > Servant to Mr. Newman Keeper of the new
Compter maketh Oath that between four and five on Monday
Evening last the deced was brought into the prisonby Pin a
Chair by Phipps a Constable and an Hackney Coach man That
he was brought into the Yard in the Prison and then taken into
the Room he now lies in by direction of Croswell one of the Turnkeys
Phipps and the Coachman placed the deced on a Bed in the
Room and covered him up with Rugs-That he talked very
strangely and appeared rather deranged-Dept. applied to Mr.
Croswell for some refreshment for the deced and in about a
quarter of an hour after Mr. Newman's Servant Maid brought
defend Pana Pan containing some boiled Park, She also brought some
Bread and Cheese andonsome small Beer the whole of which Dept. took
to the deced the deced did not eat much-That in about half
an hour after Dept. took some Tea to the deced which he drank
Dept. saw the deced again about nine oClock that he was on
the Floor with some of the Rugs round him and appeared to have
rolled off the Bed by accident-Dept. and a Woman placed the
deced on the Bed-Dept. asked the deced how he came off the Bed
he sayed he wanted to ease himself Dept. says his Breeches were
downDept. saw the deced several times after that until about eleven oClock and then no more that Night-That yesterday
Morning he again saw the deced that he was lying on the Bed
Dept. spoke to him & asked him if he would have anything the
deced sayed he was dry-in about half an hour after Dept. took
the deced some Tea- the deced being unable to take is himself Dept.
goaltried to give it him in a spoon upon tryingtheto give it him in
the Spoon Dept. observed he had the rattles in his Throat and could
not drink and appeared to be lying-Dept. acquainted Mr. Croswell
that the Man was lying Mr. Croswell sayed he would send for the
Doctor and by Mr. Newmans order a Woman was placed in the
Room with the deced to attend him-Dept. saw the deced last
Night between five and six oClock that he was then Lead and warm
therefore could not have been long Dead.
