Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say, at the parish of Saint Mildred
the Virgin in the Ward of Cheap in London
aforesaid this 15th. day of January 1798 on
view of the body of Ash Goeagin< no role > now here
lying Dead.

Ruben Balden< no role > Servant to the Keeper of the Prison of the
Poltry Compter maketh Oath that between the hours of three
and four of the afternoon of Friday last the deced Ash
Goeagin was brought to the said Prison by the Lord Mayors
Porter being brought by him to the said Prison to remain
there until he could be passed by the Lord Mayor< no role > to his
parish that he appeared very ill and very dirty and
filthy and very raggedThat he was taken into one of
the Rooms of the Prison and depts. desired Samuel Lee< no role >
one of the Turnkey to take care of him and that he might
have Ruggs at Night to keep him warm.

Samuel Lee< no role > one of the Turnkeys of the Prison of the
Poultry Compter maketh Oath that on Friday afternoon last
in consequence of directions from the last Witness he placed
the deced in one of the lower Rooms of the prison among
some of the other prisoner s. That the deced appeared very
ill that breathed and couldhasscarce tell his Name Dept.
gave him some Reigs to cover him That there was a person in
the Room that Dept. left him about eight oClock Dept. went
to the Room wherein the deced was-that he was then
laying down with the Regs onThat when he was first
brought in Dept. gave him some Mutton and Broth and in
the Evening some Tea-Dept. lay in the same Room with
the deced-That the deced continued to get worsedailyin the
course of the Night and about five oClock he departed this
Life-Dept. left the fire turning when Dept. went to Bed
but when Dept. got up as four oClock the fire was as That
the deced wasso a roomvery weak and could not bear all the
Rugs on him
