Deposition of a Witness takenas London that
is to saysas the parish of Saint Thomas within
the Borough of Southwark in the County of
Surrey this 5th. day of January 1798 on view
of the body of William Millin< no role > now here lying
Dead.

Mary Wife of William Millin< no role > of No. 3 Suffolk Court
Awers Street Saint Georges Southwark Cooper maketh Oath that
between four & five in the afternoon of Monday last Dept.
left the deced her son about two years & a quater Old
in a Room on the Ground floor of Depts. house till Dept. went
out to get some Roles for Tea thatHe decedDept. left the
deced playing with an Orange & some ChestnutsThat in
about ten Minutes Dept. returned to her house and upon
pushing the Door a little open the deced was standing upon a
bit of floor Cloth its Cloaths on Fire and sayed "Mammy
"look here" Dept. immediately did her endeavour to [..]
extinguish the Fireof otheron the Cloaths of the Child Dept.
having extinguished the most part of the Fire on the Cloaths
of the deced wrapt him up in her Apron trok him to her
Mother who was standing with Trustfacing Union Streetin the Borough high Street
facing Union Street-Dept. & her Mother took the deced to
Doctor Allen facing St Margarets Hill Borough high Street
who recommended it to Depts. Mother to take the deced to the Hospital
which Dept. Mother left Dept. Dept. saw the deced in that
Hospital the same Evening that the Child was then sensible
Dept. was informed that the deced died the next Morning
above four OClock.
