Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say at the precinct of Whitefriers in
the Ward of Farringdon without in London
aforesaid this 16th. day of January 1797 on
view of the body of William Mapps< no role > now
here lying Dead.

Ralph Holden< no role > a Coal Porter and a Lodger at No. 7 Hanging [..]
[..] Sword Alley Water Lane Whitefriars London maketh
Oath that about a quarter before eleven on Saturday Morning
last Dept. saw the deced laying with his face downwards
upon the Mud opposite the Temple Wall of the Temple Garden
that the Water covered some part of the decedDept. got a
parson to help him & went to the deced and got him out of
the Water and took him to the place where he now lies
(The Engine House of the Temple )says the deced appeared as if
he had not been long in the water-Upon the deceds pockets
being searched an half Crown piece & two Shillings& five
[..] were found in his left hand breeches pocket, five
pence in half pence in his right hand breeches pocket, and
a Watch in his feb pocketa Penknife in his right hand
Waistcoat Pocket and an Iron KeyThat in about a
quarter of an hour after a person now present [..] who says his
Name is James Tayler< no role > came and sayed he knew the
deced.

County of Middx Cooking Glass Manufacturer maketh
Oath that he hath known the deced about seven years and
six Months that he served his Apprenticeship with Dept.
that last Saturday Morning was a Week Dept. saw the
deced go out of his ( [..] Depts) Shop-That he had been at work for about an
hour before and has been missing ever sinceThat about One of Clock on Saturday End Dept
reced information that the deced was found and was lying
at the Temple Dept. went there and found the deced lying
dead in the Place where he now lies
