Depositions of Witnesses taken at the
Parish of Saint John Within the Borough of
Southwark in the County of Surrey this
14th. day of December 1796 on view of
the Body of a Woman unknown now
here lying Dead

severally made oath and say that being on Horsley down old
Stairs yesterday afternoon about one o Clock they sawthe deced
[..] two Dredgermen in a small Boat row to the Stairs
that the deced was fastened by a Rope to the Stern of the Boat that
[..] the two Menhasin the Boat searched the deceds Pockets from whence
they told a they some Moneya Clout and a Pinaforethey then
took a Ring from the deceds Finger after which they made the
Rope to which the deced was fastened fast to the side of the Stairs
& then viewed awaythat in about three quarters of an hour
after a shell being brought down the deced was taken away
to the in order as Dept. understood to be taken to the bone house
of Saint Johns Church .
