Deposition of a Witness taken at London that is
to say at the parish of Saint Mary at Hill in the
Ward of Billingsgate in London aforesaid this
23d. day of November 1796 on view of the body of
a Manknownunknown now here lying Dead

George Gower< no role > a Watchman & a lodger at Mr. Gairlls of
Bermondsey Street Southwark maketh oath that about eight
o Clock last Nightbeingwhile watching the Craft at Billingsgate Dock he
heard something fall in the Water some persons sayed it ward
Man overboard Dept. & some other persons tried with Creepon
to find the deced but without affect that about ¼ part one this
Morning Dept. saw a Man the deced lying on the Mud Dept. mad a Rope
fast to him & about nine this Morning a Shelling brought down
the deced was put in it & taking away to the borne house of Saint
Mary at Hill
