Southwark

An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at
the parish of Saint Olave within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey
on the twenty second day of November in the thirty seventh year of the reign
of our Sovereign Lord the George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France
and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark
on view of the body of Christopher Stoneham< no role > a boy of about the age offourteen
thirteen years now here lying dead by the oath of John Wisiter< no role > George Stillwell< no role >
Joseph Cross< no role > George Saunders< no role > Cornolius Wetherall< no role > John Lassells< no role > George Squire< no role >
William Barton< no role > Samuel Watkins< no role > Richard Hamilton< no role > Edward Hooper< no role > Joseph
Jones Thomas Hasten and Thomas Grier< no role > good and lawful men of the Borough
of Southwark aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged
to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said
Christopher Stoneham< no role > came to his death say upon their oath that the said
Christopher Stoneham< no role > on the twentieth day of November in the year aforesaid
accidentally casually and by misfortune fell into the River of Thames and in
and with the waters of the said River was then an there suffocated and drowned
of which said suffocation and drowning the said Christopher Stoneham< no role > did
then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do
say that the said Christopher Stoneham< no role > in manner and by the means
aforesaid accidentally casually and by misfortune came to his death and not otherwise In Witness whereof
as well the said Coroner as the said John Winter< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors
on behalf of himself and the rest of his follows in their presence have to this
Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first above
written
