Southwark Depositions of Witness taken at the
Parish of Saint Thomas with in the Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey this
9th. day of June 1795 on view of the Body
of a Man unknown now here lying Dead

William Cooper< no role > of Chapel Court Borough high Street Southwark
Victualler maketh Oath that about of the before Eleven on Sunday
Night last in consequence of an application to Dept. by
Robinson Constable of the Night Dept. event to Blackman street
& facing the Hot Crown Public House he found the deced lying
upon his Back on the foot pavement in Blackman street
that he was quite in sensible-Dept got a Light & examined
the deced. that his face was all over Blood. that his Cloaths
were all Dirty as if he had been in the Dirt Dept. had the
deced put in a Chair for the purpose of taking him to Saint Thomas's
Hospital-that whiletakencoming to the Hospital Dept. got a
Light by the way & again looked at the deced that he was then
alive but still insensible-that when Dept. & the the poors
got to St. Thomas's Hospital upon the Doctors belonging to the
Hospital looking at him they found him to be quite Dead
Dept then observed a bruise upon the deceds forehead which bled
very much.

[..] between ten & Eleven OClock on Sunday Night [..]
Dept. passing along Blackman Street a Pson passing Dept. sayed
what can that be lying in the Street. Dept. croped towards the then [..]
side of the StreetInformedand in the road a little distance from
the port pavement Dept. found the deced lying upon his face
his Haton. Dept. to should of one Aron of the deced & the poor who
spoke to Dept. took [..] of the Sr. Aron of the deced and pulled him
on the fast pavement that he was quite invensible [..] Dept.
the other from sayed very likely he is drunk & if he is
let him lay there that when they had placed him on the foot
pavement he turned him elf on his back & ground Dept then
left him there that it was Quite dark-Dept. soon after returned
again to the deced and found him in the same situation he left
him in Dept. then acquainted the Watch man who bring it a
Light & then Dept. observed the deceds Pace very bloody. that
he
