An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London that
is to say at the parish of Saint Botolph Billinsgate in the Ward of Billingsgate in
the Ward of Billinsgate in London aforesaid on the eighth day of April in the thirty
fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great
Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas
Shelton Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough
of Southwark on view of the body of Thomas Trott< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of John
Cazeday Henry Purke William Taylor< no role > John Weeden< no role > Symon Cook< no role > Thomas Bennett< no role > Junior
Edward Webster< no role > Thomas Webster< no role > Thomas Phipps< no role > John Hall< no role > Joseph Roome< no role > Stephen
Wickham
< no role > John Coleman< no role > and John Bates< no role > good and lawful men of the City of London
aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said
Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Thomas Trott< no role > came to his
death say upon their oath that said Thomas Trott< no role > on the sixth day of April
in the year aforesaid being in the forecastle of a certain sloop called the Olive branch
then lying and being on the River of Thames wherein there was then a fire It so
happened that the said Thomas Trott< no role > from the smoke and sulphureoes fumes arising
from the said fire was then and there suffocated of which said suffocation the said
Thomas Trott< no role > did then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid
do say that the said Thomas Trott< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid was
suffocated and killed In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John
Cassidy the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows
in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year
and place first above written
