Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say at the Precinct of Black Friars
in the Ward of Farringdon within in London
aforesaid this 24th day of December 1794
on view of the body of a Male Child now
here laying Dead.

Water Lane London Painter maketh Oath that between Eleven &
twelve O'Clock Yesterday Morning Dept. & mother Boy were going
over Black Friars Bridge that they stop to look over the Bridge that
whill looking over the other Boy sayed look there pointing his Finger to
something that one Waterman [..] then in a Boat [..] (wich appeared to have come from
London Bridge [..] & was going thro Blackfriars Bridge ) was pushing
towards the Shore with one of his Sculls upon looking more at it it
appeared to Dept. to be a Child Dept. & the other Boy went down
the Stairs on the East side of Blackfriars Bridge upon going down the
[..] Stairs they found it to be a Child that it was wrapped up in a
Cloth that the other Boy took it up & put it in his Apron and
Dept. and he came up the Stairs when they got at the top of the
Stairs the other Boy placed the Child on the Pavement at the
top of the Stairs that several people then gathered round Dept.
remained with the Child & the other Boy went and fetched the
Beadle ofthe parish Christchurch Parish who sent Dept
after the Beadle of Blackfriars Precinct that the Child was
afterwards taken to the Church Yard where Dept. left it.

Esan Oakley< no role > Grave Sigger< no role > of Blackfryars Precinct maketh
Oath that this Morning he washed & cleaned the Child brought
by Mr. East the Beadle & the last Witness Lloyd that upon
examining it turned out to be a Boy a full grown Child had
a Cap & Shirt on & wrapped up in a piece of Cloth which
appeared to be part of an old Gown which was pinned in one
or two places that the Naval String of the Child is tied with
Worsted no Marks of violence on it don't appear to have been
long in the Water
