Southwark

An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at [..] the parish of
Saint Thomas within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the second day of July
in the thirty fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great
Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the body of
Mary Gibson< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of Henry Leafe< no role > Samuel Cobham< no role > Thomas Wright< no role >
John Lee< no role > Martin Holl Deamas Hayward< no role > John Savoy Delany Clark< no role > Walter Pawlitt< no role > Philip Windsor< no role >
William Howell< no role > Thomas Crooks< no role > John Morgan< no role > and William Skinner< no role > good and lawful men of
the Borough of Southwark aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our
said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Mary Gibson< no role > came to her death say upon
their oath that on the thirtieth day of June in the year aforesaid a certain person whose names to the
Jurors aforesaid is as yet unknown being driving a certain Coach drawn by three houses along
and through a certain publick street & Kings common highway situate in the parish of Saint George certain in the Borough & County aforesaidtherecalled Kent street It so
happened that she said Mary Gibson< no role > who was then and there crossing the said street ran against one
of the Traces of the said Coach & fell upon the Ground and the near forewheel of the said Coach accidentally
casually and by misfortune passed upon and over the Breast of the said Mary Gibson< no role > by means
whereof the said Mary Gibson< no role > did then and there receive one mortal bruise in and upon her said
breast of which said mortal bruik she the said Mary Gibson< no role > as well also at the said parish of Saint George
as also at the said parish of Saint Thomas in the Borough aforesaid did languish and languishing did live
On which said thirteenth day of June in the year aforesaid at the parish aforesaid within the Borough
and County aforesaid the said Mary Gibson< no role > of the said mortal bruise did die And so the Jurors aforesaid
upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Mary Gibson< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid
accidentally casually and by misfortune came to his death and not otherwise And that the said near
forewheel of the said Coach was moving to the death of the said Mary Gibson< no role > and is of the value of one
shilling and is the property and in the possession of Thomas Atkins< no role > of Lewisham in the County of
Kent Coachmaster In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Henry Leafe the
Foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have
[..] this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first abovewritten
