Southwark


An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the parish of Saint
Olave within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the twenty eighth day of December
in the thirty fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role > George the third by the grace of God of Great
Britain France< no role > and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role >
Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark
on view of the Body of James Moad< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of Joseph Cunningham< no role >
John Ross< no role > John Watkins< no role > Ambrose Fletcher< no role > William Cook< no role > Joseph Cross< no role > John Kitching< no role > John Freeman< no role >
John Longer< no role > James Judd< no role > David Roddie Joseph Bell< no role > John Deege good and lawful men of the
Borough of Southwark who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord the
King when how and in what manner the said James Moadd< no role > came to his death say
upon their oath that the said Joseph Moad< no role > on the twenty seventh day of December in the
year aforesaid at the parish and Borough [..] aforesaid in the County aforesaid then lately before accidentally
casually and by misfortune fell into the River Thames and in and with the waters of the said River
was then and there suffocated Lord drowned of which said suffocation and drowning the said
Joseph Moad< no role > did then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid to
say that the said Joseph Moad< no role > in manner aforesaid accidentally casually and by misfortune
was suffocated and drowned. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Joseph
Cunningham
< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in
their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place
first above written.
