Depositions of Witnesses taken at London
that is to say, as the parish of Saint Botolph
without Aldgate in the Ward of Portsoken
in London aforesaid this 17th. day of December
1793 on view of the Body of Joseph Barnett< no role >
now here lying Dead

John Granger< no role > of the peacock in the parish of Saint
Botolph without Aldgate in the Ward of Portsoken London
Victualler maketh Oath that the deced who was a Journey
Gunstock maker< no role > hath lodged in Dept. House between three
and four yearsthat Dept. went up Stairs with the deced about
¼ past Eleven on Sunday Night last in order to go to Bed
that Dept. saw the deced up as far as the one pair of Stairs
landing place and there left himthat the deced slept
in a two pair of Stairs back Room and Dept. slept in the front
Room on the same Stair case-that Dept. got before the
deced he being a little intoxicated and Lame having
had a Wound in his left Leg [..] during the
whole time he has lodged with Dept.-that Dept. went
into his Room and had got into Bed when he heard
something fall and thinking the deced had fallen down
Dept. went out of his Room and halled to the deced and
asked him if he had hurt himself-the deced sayed No
he had not go you to Bed and leave me by myself
Dept. accordingly went to Bed-that the next Morning
about ½ part Six Dept. was called to [..] was by his Servant
William Smart< no role > who sayed a Man was lying Dead upon the
StairsDept. got up andDept. desired the Boy to get
some assistance-that about ¼ part Seven Dept. got up
and found the deced sitting upon the fourth Stair from
the Bottom of the one pair of Stairs-that he was quite
dead-that the deced was very much addicted to
drinking and never paid any attention to the wound
in his Leg sometimes going two or three days without
having it dressed
