Depositions of Witnesses taken at the
Parish of Saint John within the Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey
this 16th. day of December 1793 on view
of the Body of a Man unknown now
here lying Dead

George Pye< no role > of Horsley down Lane in the Parish of
Saint John within the Borough of Southwark Barber
and Perriwig maker maketh Oath that about Eleven OClock
in the Forenoon of Saturday last Dept. wentgoingto Horsley down< no role >
Stairs in the said Parish to dip some Water that while he was
so doing on turning his Head round he observed the deced
lying upon top of a Wall that has been lately erected adjoining
the Stairs in order to make a Wharf-that the side [..]
[..] having ebbed had left the Body on the wall
Dept. in about half an hour after informed one Barton
the Grave digger of the Parish of having discovered the deced
that in about half an hour after that Barton came to
Dept. and Dept. and Barton went to the deced that
he had on a Blue Jacket< no role > and Canvas Trowsers< no role > and Shoes
on-that he appeared to be a Young Man< no role > and form his
Fleshing being much [..] ivelled he must have been some
time in the Water-that there did not appear to be any
bruises or Marks of Violence about the deced-that Dept.
assisted Barton in taking the deced to the Bone House
where he now lyes
