Deposition of a Witness taken at the Borough
of Southwark in the County of surrey that is to
say at the parish of saint John within the
Borough aforesaid in the County aforesaid this
31st. day of July 1793 on view of the body of
John Sanny< no role > now here lying Dead

Elizabeth Wife< no role > of John Poovin of No. 1 Weaver Lane< no role >
Parish of saint John Southwark Dealer & Chapman maketh
Oath that she hath known the deced John Sanny about
a Year that he was a Fellowship Porter and casually
Worked at the Watersidethat he has lodged in a two pair
of Stairs front Room in Dept. house about in Month
that between the hours of five and six in the afternoon
of Monday last Dept. went up to the deced Room Door
that Dept. [..] having tryed at the Door and received no
answer from within opened the Door and on going into
the Room she found the deced Langing by a Cord fastened
round a piece of Wood nailed [..] along the Wainscot of
the Roomthat Dept. immediately gave the alarm and
[..] having got two Men they went up Stairs and in Dept.
presence use the deced down that he was quite dead
and cold and must have hanged there sometime
that the deced was a Married Man but his wife was
not at Home at the time being out a Nursing as Dept.
understoodthat Dept. saw the deced on the Sunday Eve
beforethat the deced was addicted to drinking and when
intoxicated was quite crazy and Mad and when sober he
was very dull and Melancholy and used to mumble and
talk to himself as if not in his right sensesthat no person
could have gone into the deced Room without Dept.
knowledgethat the deced has been in the state Dept. before
mentioned the whole of the time he has known him balmont
worse lately and Dept. infirmly persuaded the deced was
not in his Senses.
