An Inquisition Indented taken for our sovereign Lord the King at London that is to say at the
parish of Saint Botolph without Bishopsgate in the Ward of Bishopsgate without in London aforesaid on the twenty
sixth day of January in the the thirty third year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great
Britain France< no role > and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of
our said Lord the King for the City of London & Borough of Southwark on view of the Body of David Mendes now
here lying dead by the Oath of John Pit William Russell< no role > Henry Metcalfe< no role > Joseph Young< no role > William Hurrell< no role >
William Webb< no role > Thomas Meymott< no role > William Hall< no role > John Jebb< no role > Jacob Cloake George Walter< no role > Charles Poynes< no role >

good and lawful men of the City of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn & charged to inquire for our said
Lord the King when how and in what manner the said David Mendes< no role > came to his Death say upon their Oath
that the said David Mendes< no role > not having the fear of God before his eyes but being moved & seduced by the instigation of the
Devil on the twenty second day of January in the year aforesaid with force & arms at the parish & Ward aforesaid in
London aforesaid a certain great quantity of opinion Feloneously Etc did swallow & take into his Stomach (he the sd D Metren &
there well knowg the said opinion to be deadly poison) by means whereof the said David Mendes< no role > [..]
then and there became and was mortally sick and distempered in his Body of which said mortal sickness & distemper
in his Body he the said David Mendes< no role > from the said twenty second day of January in the year aforesaid until the
twenty third day of the same month of January in the same year at the parish & Ward aforesaid in London aforesaid did
languish and languishing did live On which said twenty third day of January in the year aforesaid at the parish
and ward aforesaid in London aforesaid the said David Mendes< no role > This name instance is in set 2097. of the said mortal sickness and distemper did die And so
the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said David Mender< no role > in manner and by the means
aforesaid feloneously wilfully and of his malice aforethought did kill and murder himself against the peace of our said
Lord the King his Crown & dignity. And that the said David Mender< no role > at the time of Committing the felonyaforesaid
and murder aforesaid had no Goods or Chattels lands or tenements within the City of London or elseware to the
knowledge of the said Jurors. In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Pitt< no role > the foreman
of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set
their hands and seals the day year and place first abovewritten.
