Edward Cox< no role > Corman to John Rose< no role > & Son of five foot Lane
Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey and a Lodger at
the Green Dragon Victualling house Barmondsey Street
aforesaid maketh Oath that about the hour of ten in the Morning
of Saturday last Dept.being thenwas standing in theleftArea or
open space on the right hand side of the Gateway leading down
to Porters Quay [..] that there were two Empty Carts with
one Horse to each standing in the same Area one of the which Carts
had the Name of Richard Cleaver Symmonds's Wharf the
other had the Name of JohnStevens [..] Roul & Sons five
foot Lane that there were two Carts in the opposite Area
on the left handside leading to the Quay one of which Carts was
Empty that one Horse to it and the other Cart was loaded
with two Hogs heads of Sugar and two Horses to it with the
name of John Stevens< no role > Labour in rain Hill that [..] the
[..] Empty Cart with the name of Richard Cleaver< no role > & the Cart
loaded with the Sugar had drawn up into each Area for the
purpose of letting a Cart pass that was passing from the Quay
into Thomas Street< no role > that as soon as that Cart had passed the Cart
with the Name of Richard Cleaver< no role > thereon & the Cart Waden
with Sugar both drove back at the same time for the purpose
of going down to the Quay that the deced was just passing at
the time and his head was jammed between the rail of the
two Carts that the Driver of each Cart was at the head of
the Horses but whether either of the Drivers saw the deced
Dept. can't say that the Driver of Cleavers Cart seeing the
deced fall immediately drew up his Horse and went with
Dept. to the deced
