Southwark

Informations of Witnesses taken at the
parish of Saint Thomas within the Borough
of Southwark in the County of Surrey on
the 18th. December 1790 on view of the body
of George Moffit there lying dead.

John Bradshaw< no role > living with his father in Castle lane in
the parish of Saint Saviour Southwark Matrass maker and
feather dresser maketh oath that last Monday afternoon the deced was
passing along Fenchurch Street upon the Curb of the foot pavement
with a bag of Feathers on his back and a dray drawn by two horses
was also passing the same Street near the Curb in an opposite direction
Dept says he does not knows whether the deced slipped or whether
the dray struck to win but he fell down across the canal and the near
Wheel of the dray passed over his bodyThat Dept assisted to take the
deced upon the foot pavement and in the mean white the drayman
whipped his Horses and drove away and dept does not know him or
whom the dray belonged toSays the horses that drew the day when
the accident happened were walking only. That he appeared much
hurt and was afterwards put into a Coach and taken to Saint Thomas's
Hospital where he died or the same day.
