Whereas the Churchwardens and OverSeers of the Floor
of the Parish of Saint Dionis Backchurch London have made
Complaint unto us Two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace of
the Said City and the Liberties there of (Quorum Anus) next
adjourning unto the Said Parish That Sarah Miller< no role > Singlewoman
on the Fifteenth day of this Instant November was deliverd of
a Male Bastard Child (Since Baystired John) in the Said Parish
whereof She Chareth one Charles Norgrave< no role > Steward or Bailif
to his grace the Duke of Mountague to be the requsuted Father
and that the Said Bastard Child is now a Charge upon their Said
Parish and desire Reliese therein Now we the Said Justices
(according to the for me of the Stalute in that case made Proviced)
upon Examination of this cause and the Circumstance thereof.
by the Oath of the Said Sarah Miller< no role > upon Mature deliberation
there upon had do declare and adjudge the Said Charles
Norgrave to be the repated Father of the Said Bastard Child and
in regard the Said Sarah Miller< no role > is unable to Contribute towards
the Maintenance of the Said Bastard Child. We the Said Justices
(for the better reliefe of the Said Parish) do Order that the
Said Charles Norgrave< no role > do and shall forth with upon Notice to
be given him of this our Order Pay or cause to be Paid unto the
Present Churchwardens and Over Seers of the Poor of the
Said Parish for and towards the Charges and Expences which
they have abready been you tt unto and Expended in a bout
the Necessary Provisions of the Said Bastard Child the Gume of
one pound Six Shillings and we the Said Justices do hereby
further order that the Said Charles Norgrave< no role > shall pay and
allow the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Said
Parish for the time being for and towards the Charge Keeping
reliefe and Maintenance of the Said Bastard Child the Gume of
two Shillings and Six Pence & week weekly from the date of
these prestents for so long time as the Said Bastard Child Shall
Continue and be a legall Charge and Burther to the Said Parish
or the Inhabitants thereof Given Under our hands the 29th
day of November in the Year of our Lord 1726
