Hospital for the original purposes of the institution, as<lb></lb>
for as they will extend, and are required; And in case<lb></lb>
they prove inadequate, and more is wanted for purposes so<lb></lb>

that the Governors, are Seriously and earnestly engaged. in<lb></lb>
so great and necessary a Work, your Committee has no doubt<lb></lb>
but that the literality of individuals will soon supply the<lb></lb>
deficiency.</p>

That in the arrangement and execution of any Plan<lb></lb>
for appropriating with greater effect the Estates & Revenues<lb></lb>
of the House of Bridewell, it will be necessary to procee'd with<lb></lb>
caution as to the practicability of the proposed measures,<lb></lb>
and with foresight as to the competency of the means for<lb></lb>
carrying them effectually into execution; leaving the further<lb></lb>
extension of the Plan to future consideration, when it's<lb></lb>
practicability and expence, shall have been experimentally<lb></lb>
ascertained, but so as not to extend it beyond the income of<lb></lb>
the Charity.</p>

That, upon examining. Mr. Hudson the Steward and<lb></lb>
Receiver of the Rents of Bridewell Hospital, it appears<lb></lb>
that upon an Average, for five Years last past there has<lb></lb>
been annually received by Rents, Dividends, Annuities and<lb></lb>
Benefactions (exclusive of Lock's and Fowke's Gift) the Sum<lb></lb>
of £4451..0..4: and that there has been annually expended,<lb></lb>
during the like period upon an average, the several Sums<lb></lb>
following, Vizt. Arts Masters, and Apprentices (exclusive<lb></lb>
of their Houses, Repairs, and Taxes) £192..6..10¾; salaries,<lb></lb>
Gratuities, & Clothing Beadles, £1,047..3..11¼, Taxes, Repairs,<lb></lb>
and Rent of Burial Ground, £423.0..11; for Printing, Coals<lb></lb>
Stationary, Tradesmens Bills, and two Annual Feasts,<lb></lb>
£331..9..9¼; and in the Maintenance of Vagrants, the Sum<lb></lb>
of £701..3..10¾, amounting together to the Sum of £2,695..5..5,<lb></lb>
which being deducted from the annual average Receipt, leaves<lb></lb>
a Balance of £1755..14..11. so that your Committee is of opinion,<lb></lb>
