Coltman William Joseph
Elected a Governor


Upon Reading a Report from the House Committee dated the 23rd. May last
under the Hands of Richard Clark< no role > Esqr . Alderman Treasurer Henry Cranke< no role > Esqr . Auditor
General Edward Matthews< no role > Esqr . Hammond Crosse< no role > Esqr . and Mr. Richard Till< no role > in the words
and figures following In pursuance of an Order of Court of the 17th day of May Instant
this Committee met this day to consider of a Report to be made of the person nominated
at the said Court to be a Governor of Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals and are of
opinion the Gentleman following is a very proper person to be a Governor of these
Hospitals if the Court shall think fit Vizt. William Joseph Coltman< no role > of Vauxhall Surry Esqr .
Nominated by Mr. Pickard Till as having served the Office of Steward All which is
nevertheless submitted to the Judgment of the Court and Ordered to be reported to the
next General Court This Court having duly weighed and considered the said Report
doth order that the same be confirmed and that a Staff be sent to the above Gentleman
forthwith.

At this Court the Charge was Read to William Joseph Coltman Esquire as a
Governor of these Hospitals.

Thomas Thomas< no role > his Legacy
of £50 reported


At this Court an Extract of the Will of Thomas Thomas< no role > late of Wadden in the
County of Surry Esqr . deceased bearing date the 16th. day of February 1786 and proved the
15th. May last was read whereby £50 is given to Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals.

Scott Samuel< no role > his Benefaction of
£50 Reported


Richard Clark< no role > Esquire Alderman Treasurer Reported that he had received of Samuel
Scott
< no role > of Comb Hill Croydon in the County of Surry Esqr £50. for the use of Bethlem
Hospital It was moved and Seconded that the thanks of this Court be given to Mr.
Scott for his kind and charitable Donation

Scott Samuel Nominated a
Governor


At this Court the following Gentleman was nominated to be a Governor of these
Hospitals Vizt. Samuel Scott< no role > the Comb Hill Croydon in the County of Surry Esquire It is
Ordered that the consideration of this Nomination be referred to the Committee of this
House who are desired to make their Report there in to this Court.

Artsmasters and Apprentices
their instiution to be abolished


A Motion being made and seconded and the Question being put That the
Institution of the Artsmasters and Apprentices ought to be abolished as recommended
by the Select Committee in their Report of the 16th. May last It was coined in the
affirmative.
