Mr. Lock's Gift


Thomas Calverly< no role > Esqr . and Mr. James Bate< no role > two of
the Governors reported that in Pursuance of an Order of Court
of the 30th. Day of April last they had made an Inquiry and
found that Samuel Gale< no role > late Apprentice to Roger Owen< no role > was
Set up for himself in his Trade and has the Character of a
diligent and Sober Man It is Ordered that the Steward
do pay the said Samuel Gale< no role > Ten Pounds out of Mr Lock's
Gift to be allowed him in his next Account.

Fitch Joseph to be inquired after
for Fowkes Gift


Upon Reading the humble Petition of Joseph Fitch< no role >
Citizen and Weaver Settingforth That he served his
Apprenticeship in this Hospital to William Wilby< no role > Junior by
Indenture dated 29th. December 1768 and by Order of Court
of the 18th. April 1776 was made Free of this City the 7th. Day
of April 1781 was set up for himself in his Trade as a Weaver
at No. 4 in Dogwell Court White Fryars and praying part
of Mr. Fowkes Gift It is Ordered that John Rivington< no role > Esqr .
Mr. Thomas Beardmore< no role > and Henry Major< no role > Esqr . or any two of
them be desired to Inquire if the said Joseph Fitch< no role > be set up
for himself in his Trade and of his hopefulness therein and
Report the same to the Court.

Hopped and Viscount Elected
a Governor


At this Court the Right Honble Augustus
Lord Viscount Keppel was unanimously Elected a
Governor of these Hospitals and it is Ordered that a Staff
be sent him forthwith.
