Herefordshire Barrt. to be one of the Governors of those
Hospitals And Order that a Staff be forth with Sent to him

Edward Umfreville< no role > Esqr, as follows ViztAt this Comittee the Petr.
of Godfrey Thornton< no role > Esqr. and Saml. Handley< no role > Esqr. which was referred
by last Court SettingforthThat the Governors having Agreed to
Demise to Mr. Robert Hardcastle< no role > a peice of ground in Old Bellton
(No. 7.8) part of the Possions of Bethlem Hospital Containing 129
feet 3 Inches in front from 6 feet Westward beyond the Braziers
Shop to the East side of an Old Passage of 8 feet wide from Lady day
1751 for 62 Years at a Pepper Corn rent for the first 2 Years & £25
P Ann clear of Taxes for the residue of the sd. Term
The Petitioners have Agreed with the said Robt. Hardcastle
to take Each of them 36 feet being the Westermost part of the
said Ground leaving the Passage 11 feet wide (instead of 8 feet
as was first intended) and desire that a Seperate Lease may be
made to each of them of 36 feet and each at £7. 10 P Ann rent
And they each Agree to layout £1750 in building a Capital house
with Coach houses and Stables if the Governors will Indulge
them with a longer Term than was Agreed to be Granted wth
Hardcastle He being Obliged only to lay out £2000, on the whole
ground And desire they may not be Obliged to build their
Coach-house and Stables more than 2 foot Distant from the
House Abulting South on the Hospitals Ground instead of
6 feed mentioned in the Agreement with HardcastleAnd
Mr Handley and Mr. Hardcastle being called in Mr. Handley
offered for himself and Mr. Thornton to pay each 20 Guineas
as a Fine for an Additional Term of 10 Years to make 72 Years
from Lady day 1752 And to build their Coach houses and Stables
4 feet distant form the said House Abulting South on the Hospls.
Ground Whereupon the Comittee having Considered the Matter
are of Opinion to Grant one Lease with Usual Covenants to
Mr. Thornton of 36 feet of the said Ground from Lady day 1752
for 72 Years at a Pepper Corn for the first Year and £7.10 P Ann
clear of Taxes for the residue of the said Term Paying 20 Guineas
Fine And that he may build his Coach houses & Stables of 4 foot
distance from the sd. House Abutting South on the Hospitals Ground
