to Let a New Lease of House
& Ground in Southward}


Mr. Treasurer Holloway acquainted this Court that proposalls have been made for
a New Lease of Houses & Ground in Bell & Bear Yard in Southwark the Gift of
Mr. Edward Hewlett< no role > to the Hospitalls of Bridewell St. Bartholomew and
St. Thomas's jointly (which were last let to William Harris< no role > and Robert Harle< no role > from
Michas 1728 for 21 years at £24 P Ann Rent) And the Concurrence of the
Governors of this Hospital being necessary Mr. Treasurer desired the directions
of this Court therein - Whereupon It is Ordered that Mr. Treasurer be
desired and he is hereby imporwered in Conjunction with the Treasurers of the
Hospitalls of St. Bartholomew & St. Thomas's to treat and agree for a New Lease
to be made of the said premisses to such person or persons and upon such Terms
and Conditions as the said Treasurers shall think proper and to Report to
this Court what shall be done therein.

Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 28th. of
October last under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr . Trear Mr. John Lee< no role >
Dr . Richard Rawlinson< no role > and Mr. Robert Elliot< no role > as follows Vizt. - At this
Committee the proposall of James Heather< no role > of Bride London Bookbinder
was read setting forth - That he proposes to take the second House South
of the little Gate of this Hospital for the Term of Three Years to comence
from Michas last and to pay the Yearly Rent of Fourteen pounds quarterly
at the Compting House of Bridewell Hospital (the Governors allowing the
Landtax) - And to serve the office of Chappel Warden when Elected in the
usual manner - And to pay to the Chappel Wardens quarterly his proportion
with the other Inhabitants of the Sums which shall be rated at the usual
Meetings towards the charge of the Scavenger Watch and Poor - This Comee
having considered the said proposal are of Opinion to accept the same upon which
the said James Heather< no role > gave half a Guinea to the Poors box-All which is
nevertheless submitted to the Judgment of the Court - And it is Ordered
that this Opinion be reported to the Court - This Court having duly
weighed and considered the said Report doth confirm the same.

Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 6th. of
November last under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr . Trear Mr. John Lee< no role >
Dr . Richard Rawlinson< no role > & Mr. Robert Elliott< no role > as follows Vizt. - At this Comee
the proposall of Thomas Coxeter< no role > of Blackfryers London Gent was read settingforth
That no proposes to take the third House South from the little Gate of this
Hospital fronting to Fleetditch Eastward for the Term of Three Years to comence
from Christmas next and to payablethe Yearly Rent of Twelve Pounds
quarterly at the Compting House of Bridewell Hospital (the Governors allowing
the Landtax) & doing the following repairs Vizt. - To make good the plaistering
& Whitewashing the landing of the Garret Stairs to be railed off - Outside Shutters
to the three Windows one pair of Stairs - laying in the Water to the Sink by &
Lead pipe & Cock - and the Sink to be leaded - and a Wooden Trunk to
carry down the Wast Water to the Show - And the said Thomas Coxeter< no role > will
serve the office of Chapple Warden when Elected in the usual manner - and
will pay to the Chappel Wardens quarterly his proportion with the other Inhabitant
of the Sums which shall be rated at the usual Meetings towards the charge of the
Scawager Watch & poor - This Comee having considered the said proposalls one
of Opinion to accept the same upon which the said Thomas Coxeter gave Five
shillings to the poors box - All which is nevertheless submitted to the
Judgment of the Court - And it is ordered that this Opinion be reported to
the Court - This Court having duly Weighted and considered the said Report
Doth confirm the same.

At this Court the following poor boys were Ordered to be put out Apprentices
at the Nomination of the Governors hereafter named Vizt.
