London I appeal against the Assessment of the Land tax made upon the Lends and<lb></lb>
Tenements in Wapping which belonged to the said Hospital in the year 1693 and are<lb></lb>
now held under Two Several Leases from the said Governours to Mr. <rs type="persName" id="BBBRMG20206_n2694-2">William Bate</rs>

the other at £50 P Ann rent which ought not to have been assigned to the said<lb></lb>
Tax and therefore on behalf of the said Governours I pray that the Assessment to<lb></lb>
farr as the Amount of the said Rents may be taken off and reduced<lb></lb>
Whereupon Mr: Taylor laid before the Board The Lease (No: 3) dated 20 June<lb></lb>
1751 made by the Governours to Mr. <rs type="persName" id="BBBRMG20206_n2694-3">William Bates</rs>

49¼ years at £20 P Annum rentand the Counterpart of a Lease of<lb></lb>
the some premisses dated 26 April 1667 from the said Governours to Dr: Bates <lb></lb>
who was father of the said Mr. <rs type="persName" id="BBBRMG20206_n2694-4">William Bates</rs>

of £20 P Annumand the Clause of the Land Tax Act being read<lb></lb>
whereby it is Enacted That nothing in the said Act contained should eaten'd<lb></lb>
to charge any of the Houses or Lands which on or before the 25th: March<lb></lb>
1693 did belong to <rs type="placeName" id="BBBRMG20206_geo1364">Bridewell Hospital</rs>

He moved that the Assessmt.<lb></lb>
of the Premissescomprized in the said Lease to Mr. Bates so farr as the<lb></lb>
amount of the Rent of Twenty Pounds being the rent which belonged to<lb></lb>
the said Hospital on or before the 25th. March 1693 might be taken off and<lb></lb>
reduced According to the said Act and then the withdrew fill the Question was<lb></lb>
putAnd afterwards returning to the Board (the Gentleman who was<lb></lb>
in the Chair having left it and an other being in his place) He was Acquainted<lb></lb>
the Commissioner did not think fit to take off any part of the said Assessment<lb></lb>
That he then laid before the Commissioners the other Lease No: 78) dated<lb></lb>
12 September 1717 from the said Governours to the said Mr. Bates of the Premes</p>
